Hello and welcome to the online home of Leeds University Union Men’s Hockey Club. The club is based at the University of Leeds Weetwood Playing Fields. For the 2009/2010 season we will have 6 teams competing in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) competition, 2 sides competing in the North Hockey Men’s League, 4 sides competing in the Yorkshire Hockey Association and 1 development squad competing in the University of Leeds intra mural division. We have over 100 club members and in terms of number of competing sides we are the largest student hockey club in the country.

In 2007 the University of Leeds recognized Hockey as a performance sport and began a programme of investment in the future of University Hockey. Since Hockey has been recognized as a performance sport, the club has had 6 promotions and the 1st XI have competed at the very highest standard of Student Hockey, last season finishing 4th in the BUCS premier division.

We are always looking for new members of any ability, if you would like to give hockey a go please attend one of the training sessions listed below or alternatively email a member of the club from the Contact Us section.

1st XI/2nd XI – Monday 7pm – 10pm
3rd XI/4th XI – Tuesday 5pm – 7pm (Week 1) Tuesday 7pm – 9pm (Week 2)
5th XI/6th XI – Monday 5pm – 7pm
Development Squad – Monday 5pm – 7pm

All training sessions are run by fully qualified hockey coaches.

In addition to Hockey the club has a busy social calendar. The club organizes a Christmas Meal, The end of year Hockey Ball, as well as regular Wednesday night social events. The club also partakes in regular fundraising activity, recently raising money for the Hospice in the Weald, Wheatfields Hospice, Brain Tumour UK and Prostate Cancer UK. In addition the club also ventures abroad during the Easter holidays to sunnier climbs on memorable Hockey tours.
